Mad Kings Weiss
3.08 out of 5.00 | Drinkable

22 oz bottle, $4.99.

Pour is an attractive, rich golden one with a wispy light head with large bubbles. No density or lace here, although the retention is not awful.

Well carbonated.

Bottled conditioned (apparently), although the yeast that comes out in the second pour is VERY particulate like and does not hard any dissolved haze to the body when added.

Nose has simple grains, not much else.

Tastes are mid-sweet with a lack of bitterness considering the hop references that appear on the label. It’s also not hefeweizen-like in any regard either, and this seems to me to be not much more than a simple, bottle-conditioned lager-LIKE beer. I’m not sure where the wheat element is either, I’m guessing this must have been filtered. The Belgian yeast is the main player when considering the label, and even then it’s not typically ‘Belgian’ in terms of what it brings. I dunno, very average without being poor but largely a beer to forget and not visit again methinks.

It’s a decent, warm weather alternative to macro beer, but frankly there isn’t much to it. Pass.
