Sixteen Counties

750 mL, corked & caged.

The thing about Allagash is that you can trust them. By that I mean that when they say they are going to brew a Belgian Ale of some description, then that’s what is going to come out of the bottle. Period! It’s such a refreshing trait in modern American brewing.

Having said that, if I’m honest, the beer is a lot darker than I was anticipating. Copper it is. Im guess that the Maine Red Wheat gives us that element. There’s a real amber hue to this that I wasn’t expecting, and it takes me back slightly. After that though, it’s all solidly traditional.

Light floral notes come through early and hang on through the back end. Some nice yeasty notes complete the Belgian element. Tasty, solid, strong. Well, what WERE you expecting? Citrus notes and it goes cris and dry before the end. Some significant biscuit malts.
