Bought this fully aware of the age and the likely outcome. I’ll always take a change for somewhere around $10.
Pours a mid-orange color with a lack of clarity. Carbonation was much better than expected. Nose and tastes offer a bit of a cider-like funkiness and some light, tart fruit elements. Clearly some oxidation but this is a long way from cardboard. On warming it gets a little sweet and there is still a little carbonation. The drinkability if anything increases … oddly …? Yeasty notes and light fruit persist.
Another beer that I so wished I had got to a decade ago but it’s pointless to live backwards, I’m drinking it now. Look, we all know this isn’t what it was ever supposed to be, however it is also undeniable that this beer is surprisingly drinkable and still relatively intact after 13 years. In fact truly amazing.
Since hardly anyone is going to drink this beer in the future, these notes are purely for the reverse reference of posterity.
