Lovely simplicity. That’s how I’ve always characterized this beer, and it represents a real nostalgia beer for me.
The pour is an extraordinarily clear, golden body with a lovely head that has above average retention and some lace.
It’s quite sweet on the nose and in the upfront tastes, but the beer dries out and brings some hop bitterness quite quickly. There’s definitely very, very light honey here, and paradoxically I generally don’t care for that, but it seems to be more on the sweet side of things rather than the sticky, floral side. There’s some decent fruit here as well that slightly pokes around a Tripel area for a moment or two.
The mouthfeel is bright and well-carbonated that adds to the beer’s appeal and huge drinkability.
I love this beer, always have done. Is it the best beer brewed in Belgium? No. Is it an incredibly drinkable, simple beer that satisfies? Yes.
