20th Anniversary
3.50 out of 5.00 | Good

22 oz bottle.

Great Divide has been a great disappointment to me of late and the old Aged Anniversary Series has been a real feature of that disappointment. Glad things get back on track with this one.

‘Belgian Style Ale’ (whatever THAT means, ‘with grape juice’ (that’s pretty nondescript, too). Bottled April 3rd 2014.

8.2% the Voignier grape juice is apparently in play.

Lemony colored pour with an initially great head that fades quite badly.

Yeasty beer – GOOD. Starts in Tripel country but quickly becomes more Belgian single. Having said that, it maintains good presence and bats the 8.2%. Nicely put together, and thank God they’ve left that weird Wood Aged IPA nonsense.

Yeast persists with a decent dose of pears. Not pineapple ester based, but still peary and persistent.

Best Anniversary beer from them for a while.

Alcohol makes its mark, tasty. WAY too big for a single, and has the alcohol of a tripel. Tripel alcohol, no tripel sweetness nor a tripel spice element.
