Tavour has many faults - many, but it does have a few redeeming features. One of those redeeming qualities is access to a handful of breweries that I know from 20+ years ago, and Kuhnhenn is one such brewer. Couple that with a style that I generally enjoy, even at the ridiculous price a single can demands on Tavour I'll swing fro one of these without too much thought. Oddly the beer has been on in the beeradvocate database since 2003, but the reviews and ratings are mostly from the 2011-14 ...

Additional notes 08/18/23 2022 Vintage, still a 12oz bottle. Another beer that I never thought I would ever see again, but here we are thanks to the internet (Tavour). 2022 vintage still coming in at 13.5%. No head to speak of which is expected, but interestingly in contrast to the notes below. This definitely isn’t as smooth as the 2+ year old 2008 version in 2011, but this has to be around a year old I would think (depending on bottling date) so it has still had some time. There’s quite a...

Additional notes 08/12/23 (pictured) Well, I never imagined I would ever see this beer again. Given the notes below, the way that I sought it for so may years, and how things have changed since then, it really is quite a journey. I have much, well-documented disdain for Tavour and that remains, but the internet brought this beer back to me. I'm a little bit stunned. $27.00 for the 12.7oz bottle. interesting that this bottle is almost twice the volume of the 2009 vintage, but also looks very...

Kuhnhenn DRIPA (Double Rice IPA)

Kuhnhenn DRIPA (Double Rice IPA)

Thanks to kp for sharing this one. Flat looking pour which lacks any hed to speak of and there is no retention or lace to speak of. Very light colored pour with a light, golden orange note. The nose is by FAR the most interesting element to this brew. As others noted at the tasting, there was a VERY distinct, rich and bright tangerine nose to this beer. Very pronounced almost to the point of me wodering if there was an orange essence added! After the nose we just get another American double...
