Westbrook
Udderly Stout

Always happy to run into a new Westbrook beer, and an (apparent) combination of an Oatmeal and Milk Stout at 5.5% is more intriguing than most. Not sure if Ed is trying to christen a new style or just combining the best elements of both.

Dark chestnut brown bordering on black with an impressive mocha, coffee-colored head. This beer definitely needs to warm up a bit before the flavors come through. Initially there is is no hint of any distinct oatmeal or milk/lacto notes.

This beer smells a little bigger than it is. There is some roasty, chocolatey alcohol in the aroma.

Nice, dark chocolate, light smoky notes here. Drinks bigger than the 5.5% would suggest. It lacks much lacto element and isn’t as rich as some oatmeal stouts. Not overly sweet, either.
