The pour and the appearance are frankly very good. Nice, golden clarity, and the etching on the Victoria glass does a tremendous job of creating a magnificent head with great retention and lace. There’s no reason not to give this a perfect appearance score.

Nose is a nondescript, very low-key yeast-like affair, and it never offers much else even on warming. Not bad, just not much of anything.

The tastes are not overtly offensive, but this beer isn’t really bringing much to the party. Sweetish, pretty thin, and the alcohol is decently hidden, but there isn’t much to this in terms of depth of flavor or presence.

Having said all of that, it does finish with a decent, dryish bitterness, but once again the beer feels very light in terms of its impact. I guess the best I can say is that I don’t hate it.

The official glass, with its etching, and the appearance of the beer are the best attributes, with the glass being possibly the best of all of them. I suppose that this is supposed to be a Duvel competitor, and that’s what the glass would suggest too, but in the end it has nowhere near the presence of that beer, even if it’s not horrible in and of itself.
