Fantôme Strange Ghost

A special beer.

Label declares, ‘1 brew Dark Triple Version’, lot 02 f a 21, best before end of 2024.

Pour offers a chestnut brown body with a deeply impressive, mocha/tan colored head. It’s rich looking in every aspect of its appearance.

Nose almost seems like a lightly spiced Christmas beer. The aromas are not especially strong, but they are easy to pick up. A bit of cinnamon, some mace, maybe a touch of nutmeg? Then the taste … WOW!

Essentially it’s a herbal explosion of many elements (thyme, rosemary, pepper, some menthol, cinzano bianco). The bitterness in the back end is extreme. A clean, lemon note also exists in the beer. It’s an absolute explosion of bitter, herbal notes that meld together perfectly. Gosh.

This is clean beer. Everything, every element, even among their bizarre complexity, is shown distinctly. There are defined notes everywhere. Even the coinage metal aftertastes feel like DISTINCT pennies, nickels, quarters and dimes! It’s sharp, it’s beautiful.

The rolling ever-changing herbal element is impossible to ignore. Juniper, then more rosemary and thyme, then … well, then. There are medicinal notes, elements of menthol mouthwash, and to be honest it comes together magnificently. Nuts, isn’t it? Yes, and SO, SO Fantôme.

Brilliant, amazing, untouchable.
