Jet black body but with some ruby red highlights at the bottom of the glass. Only at the bottom though. Definite “Guinness like” appearance with some very nice lacing. About one-eigth of an inch of dense, tan colored head persists all the way to the bottom of the drink.

Very smooth mouthfeel.

Liquorice start, with sweetness prevailing upfront. Increasingly sweet as the bottle is consumed. I was suprised at the lack of “smokiness” given the name, but I enjoyed more because it was lacking that quality. Nice version of a classic style.

Very drinkable.
