Fantôme Red Spiritus Automn’ Project

750 mL, corked and caged. There’s very little information about this beer, I’ll have to ask Dany.

Lot 03 b 21 best before a consommé avant fin 2025

A pinkish head that is huge sits a top a reddish-brown body after a tremendous pop on opening. This looks special.

There’s some mild fruit in the nose, but not much. As it warms, that increases.

This is lovely. It drinks like a fruit beer, with lots of strawberry notes, and almost no sweetness up front. It’s balanced, has a light herbal note, and even more fruity, sweetness in the finish. Lovely, gentle fruit based acidity in the back-end too. The beer is highly drinkable, with some drying notes around the edges. This is COMPLEX. A lot going on here, with contradictory elements that honestly are confusing. Perfectly Fantôme!

The mouthfeel is amazing. Tiny bubbles, lead to an incredibly smooth beer. It’s light, airy and unbelievably easy to drink. Spice notes are light, and really only manifest themselves in a dry manner, not especially ‘spiced’ per se.

I don’t know what to make of this other than to say that I love it. A CLASSIC Fantôme beer experiment, as mad and as enticing and confusing as they come, but also being nothing like many other Fantôme beers. But  of course, that’s Fantôme. Delicious, and impossible to nail down and categorize. You simply have to experience these beers.
