Oude-Geuze Brett-Elle
3.66 out of 5.00 | Good

Nice pour with excellent carbonation for the style. Not much retention of course (as expected), but some better than expected lace, and a nice white film and collar also exceed expectations. Slightly burnt-orange colored body.

Nose is all rampant, woody, acidic apples.

This is tart, and it builds. The accumulation is significant, and the beer dries out down the bottle. Lots of citrus based lemon, and some real sharpness. It remains quite woody and the beer maintains the feel of a solution with a very low pH.

This is a seriously tart offering, with plenty of tannin-like drying notes in the back-end. Puckering. If you concentrate you can get various fruit elements beneath the sour, but it’s a bit of an effort, and you have to have a pretty experienced palate to pick them up. My palate with this type of beer just isn’t that sophisticated.

If you’re in the mood for this type of beer this is one that will bring all the acidity that you want, and some!
