Oud Beersel
Bersalis Tripel

Apparently I’ve had this before today but I have no notes, and I was somewhat surprised to find out that Brouwerij Oud Beersel made a Tripel given their sour-laden portfolio.

The pour is an astonishing color – deep, deep golden, great hues Head is great too (for the ABV), bone-white and has decent retention and some lovely lace. Absolutely perfectly presented beer.

Nose has lovely, sharp, clean alcohol with a white pepper blast. Tastes are truly Tripel with the mild spice, the solvent alcohol, Belgian yeasts and sugars all combining beautifully with the aforementioned white pepper. This is astonishingly smooth for a 9.5% Tripel – incredibly so. WOW. Speaking of the alcohol, I might have put this a couple of notches lower based upon the taste, but this is a beast. Truly dangerous.

Perfect combination of sweet, alcohol, yeast, Belgian candy, potency and drinkability. Might be (for now at least) my new favorite Tripel, and that’s saying a lot.
