Darker, and more brown than expected. Solid two-finger head. Appearance turns out to be the strongest feature of this beer.
Described as a Red Ale. Head is well maintained.
Malty beer without some of the typical, red dryness that one might expect.
Frankly, so far Ommegang and Game of Thrones have gone 0 for 3 in terms of impressing me.
There is supposed to be some heat here (brewed with Ancho Chiles)? I don’t get any. I really don’t get any of the rye noted on the label either, other than the malty sweetness is not as strong as the Red Ale descriptor might suggest
Quite disappointing considering the fanfare.
