Low and Slow
Doppelbock

One of my favorite styles from a brewery that I have a checkered history with (some things I absolutely LOVE, some I hate, and I absolutely feel that they have lost their way of late). Anyway, happy to report that this is a lovely experience.

Excellent pour with all the attributes I am looking for; deep, chestnut/red brown pour with a great head, some (not great) lace and decent retention. Nose has lots of lightly cheesy malt, and a slightly acidic “tang”. On warmer that nose gets BIG – all malt, all the time, Delicious.

Tastes are all that they should be with a deep, malt experience being (of course) the overarching and memorable experience. Alcohol and sweetness are present right through the beer, and satisfaction is high.

With Doppelbocks I look for simple, robust malt flavors with nothing fancy added. I don’t need anything that wouldn’t pair well with rustic food and cold days. That’s pretty much what we get here, so it fits the bill.

Honestly I’m pretty easy to please, just deliver the style within reasonable parameters and don’t fuck with me. If I get that I’m happy. This beer makes me happy (except the can).
