Unusual volume for the bottle at 765 mL, or 25.9 oz, but I’ll take it. Thick glass, dimpled bottle bottle
$19.99 for the privilege.
Decent pop on opening, and a very aggressive pour does produce so beige head. However, as expected this is gone almost instantly and the beer settles to what looks like a non-carbonated beverage very quickly. The non-carbonated appearance is a little deceptive, as the body and mouthfeel does give some light ‘fizziness’. The color is quite dependent upon the light. It varies from a coppery brown color to hints of orange, and red rust in other situations.
Nose is really quite acidic, however this is not quite replicated in the taste.
Look, for all intents & purposes, this is basically a good old-fashioned Somerset scrumpy. There really isn’t anything else here in terms of the taste. Unlike some beers of its ilk, the acidity doesn’t really build, and it’s quite clean. There is very little fruit element here, and a distinct lack of raspberry. LOTS of apple acidity, and some funk as well as the tartness.
