Lips of Faith Bière de Garde

22oz in the usual Lips of Faith presentation.

Pour is a completely clear, bright orange color with very little head. Not much retention or lace.

Nose offers soem interesting muted orange notes. Not much else.

Tastes are a clean, slightly edgy small apple feel. Tastes a little like a diluted cider with some subtle alcohol added. The 9.0% is very well hidden, and not really a feature of the beer. There are some orangey notes that come through, but in no way is it a strong element of the beer.

As odd as it seems, the abiding taste and lingering aftertaste too, is a slightly floral hop note. Again, it’s not really strong but it is persistent. The beer dries in the finish but still maintains some fruit. The alcohol previously absent, start to build toward the bottom of the bottle. The same is true of the orange character that I previosuly felt was not too obvious but ultimately becomes pretty strong.

As much as I enjoyed the beer, I just don’t see this as a typical BdG. It seems more like a fruit infused, floral beer. Very odd. It gets a little tiring, and this is definitely a one-off for me, and I suspect, most people.
