Lindemans Kriek

Additional notes 05/20/24 (pictured)

I don’t find this beer nearly as sweet as I once did. In 2024, 16 years after my original notes it has a much more, genuine, sour cherry note that is not too sweet and does not tate artifical to me. It’s still sweet enough to be a desert beer, but it’s never cloying and never a cough medicine candidate which is always the worry with sweeter krieks.

Once a year I like it. Shoot me.

$7.99 from Showcase Beverage, Carrollton, GA, USA. 750mL bottle, capped, corked and foiled.

Well, it is what it is and this always confuses the Lambic landscape. Quite how one goes from a beer (or beers) that Lindemans puts out over to a typical Cantillon and call them both Lambics is always a bit of a mystery, but there you are.

Dark magenta pour with a pink head and some good carbonation.

Aroma and tastes are all black cherries, and a nice, non-artificial one at that. Obviously this is crushingly sweet, and to be honest I really like it – many will hate it. A little tart in the finish which gives it the genuine cherry fruit note.

Very smooth.

There really isn’t much more to be said about this other than it is just about the perfect girly, brunchy, deserty non-serious beer. The drinkability is off the charts AS LONG AS you are not offended by the sweetness.
