I’m not a big fan of honey based beers in general, and that’s despite me liking sweet beers.
Odd sized bottle (250 mL) that I thought might be to mitigate the sweetness, but in the end the beer really isn’t that sweet. Now, don’t get me wrong, it is sweet, but perhaps not as cloying and sugar-based as one might anticipate.
Clear-as-a-bell golden pour. Some head, some scant lace and a light film of retention. Nose definitely has some of those classic, clover/floral honey notes. Sweet? Sure, but not slick or cloying. Honey comes through in the back end. Slightly grainy, honey and Lyle’s Golden Syrup hints, with some simple toasty bready things too. Honey on toast.
Dryish finish.
I don’t particularly care for this much which is not a surprise, but I also don’t hate it which was about the best that I could expect. If you’re a big honey fan I guess you may enjoy it but for me one and done.
