Dirty brown pour, this is not very attractive. On the plus side, the head is good, decent retention and some lovely lace. The odd things about all of that is that this beer, like the Raspberry Porter, also gives a light, fizzy, soda like note in terms of its carbonation profile.
I don’t know what this is supposed to be TBH. Is it a Barleywine? If it is it feels like an English version. Is it an Imperial Amber? If it is it’s nowhere near “red” enough, and is far too sweet and just insufficiently dry to be anywhere near that category. In the end, like all of the Komes beers that I have had so far, it’s simply not very good, however, this might be the least offensive of them all so far. FYI, that’s NOT an endorsement!
In the end this seems oddly mixed up. It’s a terrible “Red/Amber”, but it wouldn’t be the worst English Barleywine I had ever had, and it looks pretty ugly. If that floats your boat … then you’re a different person than me.
