Kasteel Rubus
3.50 out of 5.00 | Good

Dark brown/purple pour with a head to match. Aroma is all raspberries but without an overwhelming element. Moderate head, lace and retention are what we would expect – minimal.

Very fruit forward without being medicinal. It is sweet, but it has a sufficiently decent malt backbone to hold it together. Finishes an odd combination of lightly tart and slightly bitter which certainly sounds paradoxical but is also true.

Desert beer? Well let’s just say it’s a beer that I want to drink about once every two years

ABV of 7% is absolutely nowhere to be seen, which I suppose is a good thing, but the sweetness will stop most people from drinking too much of this.
