IF this were a Dubbel it would be the best looking Dubbel on the planet! Allow me to explain. Almost without exception, Dubbels have that, “oh so unattractive” dirty dishwater brown hue. This on the other hand has a spectacular, mid-copper clarity with high bubbly head, that offers some lovely lace and film. Pretty under normal circumstances, spectacular considering how it fits into the grand scheme of Dubbels … unless this is simply a Belgian Dark Ale!

Lovely, simple, yeasty nose with a tiny, tiny hint of hops amongst the bread.

Highly drinkable, with the hint of hops from the nose lingering in the background, the beer offer a very clean malt experience, and a little alcohol. The alcohol element is a little surprising given the overall ABV being a relatively modest 7.0 %. The clean malts lines persist, and those English hops sit on top gently kissing the beer. Those English hops really are a big player here. Clever.

This feels well-made, clean, and simultaneously simple and complex. Paradoxes aside, this drinks beautifully and works incredibly well. A really neat package.
