11.2 oz bottle from a mixed 12 pack. I purchased this a few months ago (late 2022) and I know the beer was original brewed in 2017 for the 200th anniversary of exporting to the US, but TBH it didn’t give an impression of being that old, either from the external packaging or the bottle contents. Lot number on the label is L9183GF002 (that may help in the future). The beer does not give any impression of age in term of oxidation or any other element.
Pour is as one would expect. Lace minimal but some, thin film on the surface of the jet black body.
Decent malty nose. Sweetish licorice elements meet the palate early, but there is a decent wave of bitterness that cuts in really quickly. This gets tempered by a little milk chocolate. It’s pretty light in the mouth, which is another way of saying it’s a tad thin. It dries out a bit in the back end to give a more dry stout feel.
If I’m honest there’s not too much to report here. It’s unmistakably ‘Guinness’ but at the same time nothing special in any way. 6% is well-hidden.
