22 oz bottle, usual Big Beer Series presentation.
Cloudy, hazed, mid-golden pour. Strang, but has the word LAGER displayed on the label without contact as if it’s trying to remind someone of something Рodd, since this was also n the dissenter label! Weird.
Head is good, with some lace. Decent retention.
Nose and tastes are much less aggressive than Dissenter IPL that I drank a few days aga, and this more rounded, sweeter and general more approachable.
I get a little honey, a few lemon/pine notes and paradoxically a drying finish, but the beer is big in the mouth, smooth, round and generally more subtle.
Don’t get me wrong, the bitterness builds without question, and the drying nature become an increasingly persistent factor, but it‚Äôs all in check and under-control. The beer starts to get a bit ‘soapy’ later on, too.
Look IPL is not a style for a reason since the hop bitterness destroys the lager sensibilities, but if I have to drink one this is not bad. Still not ‘right’ though!
ABV 6.1% and it feels if anything, a bit bigger. Best by 11/08/14.
