Various sources describe this a a BSPA and a Tripel, but for me it sits in the former category despite the brewery offering this description; “Filou is a strong blonde, top-fermented beer. Its subtle spicy aromas and nuanced sweet flavour profile catapult you to the wonderful world of Belgian tripels.” Sadly, a canned version.
Pale golden body with an excellent head and some impressive lace.
Some over-ripe bananas and some light bubble gum in the nose. The bubblegum and other phenols get exaggerated in the tastes, Doesn’t feel too boozy despite the 8.5%. Dryish, lightly bitter finish. Some lingering pineapple in the far, back-end, although the esters are never that big here, hence my shying away a little from the Tripel moniker. A little pepper, but this beer is a touch flabby if I’m honest. It’s not defined enough for a Tripel, and it’s not big enough for a great BSPA so I don’t quite no where to place it.
