Interesting departure for Dany, a Witbier at 4.5%. Lots of recent, positive reviews of this beer – excited to try it.
Light golden, slightly hazed pour. Head and lace is strong as ever with Fantôme.
Light white pepper on the nose, along with some sinus clearing, citrusy lemon.
This is an absolutely delightful beer. Lively, fine carbonation excites the palate and the ever-so-light lemony notes follow quickly. Some moderate bitterness in the mid palate and back end finish the first few mouthfuls. The aftertaste offers some lingering, light bitterness.
As it warms lots of sweeter, lemon based elements come through. It’s a really bright and strong beer with a ton of character. It becomes more generically Fantôme and Saison like than the original Witbier notes, and that lends a nice familiarity of the beer.
The kind of beer that puts paid to the misconception that lower ABV beer can’t be full of flavor. This is jam-packed with bright, strong flavors. It’s a very bold beer. A great success, and a beer that showcases everything that’s great about Dany and his craft.
