LOT E/V ALIDADE Mc 4 24 best bef end 2027
Disappointing lack of pop on the removal of the cork, and the beer is definitely under-carbonated on the pour. Not usually an issue with any Fantôme beers, but today it was. Lower ABV than many Fantôme beers too.
Mid-orange clouded pour with a small head. Some lace (small) and a thin film on the surface of the beer.
Nose offers some funky citrus but it’s pretty light.
The tastes start with some satsumas. A few band-aid phenols and some hop bitterness in the back-end. There’s no getting away from the lack of carbonation though, and this lets the beer down quite badly if I’m honest. As it warms there’s a bit of orange sherbet, and some light, watery orange cordial from when I was a kid. Diluted Quosh.
There aren’t that many Fantôme beers that miss for me but this is one of them. It’s not ‘bad’ per se, but it doesn’t reach the usual heights that I’ve come eo love and expect. Many better examples exist.
