12.7oz, over-presented bottle. weird label. WTF happened to beer labels? There’s just no easy way to tell what might be in the damn bottle. Stupid.
Not sweet enough for a Tripel, the beer is way too dry for the style IMO. There is some decent white pepper and spice, but the beer has a serious drying component which for me is at odds with the style.
Color, head, retention and body all seem about right (although the hoppy nature take the body slickness down too much for me and there is a lack of alcohol slickness), and the alcohol is almost too well-hidden.
There’s a bitter finish that need not be there, and togteher with the lack of sweetness the bitter, hoppy finish really put this in a category that i would not consider Tripel at all. Even though this is not a Belgian IPA or a German, noble hop based lager it’s closer to those types of beers than a Tripel. Drying afterteste fingers too.
Average beer, dreadful Tripel. Expensive and not good. Avoid.
