Orange clouded pour. Nice head with some sticky lace. Color is a little too orange for the style IMO.
This is odd, and well outside any Tripel parameters even with generous interpretations of style (something I seldom have much truck with). Surprisingly, quite a lot of hop character on the nose – see what I mean? Not so much happiness in the initial taste, but still. Lacks the big alcohol kick of a Tripel, and has next to nothing in the candy, sugary, Belgian yeast/ester department either. Almost no white pepper, and a light, but bothersome element of hop character (for the style) continues to persist.
Oddly this finally drinks a bit like a malty, Rochefort 6 (without the quality, but with some decent depth on the malts), but Tripel …? Nope.
Terribly disappointing as a Tripel, nothing like a Belgian IPA, a let down on all fronts. Falls between a bunch of stools and does nothing at all for me. One and done here.
