$22.99 on a recent mercy trip to the Detroit ‘burbs. 2020-2021 vintage, BBD 16-03-2031.
Apparently 7/8 Rulles Brune with 1/8 one-year-old lambic, then macerated with 160 grams of blackcurrants per liter.
Corked and caged, nice pop on opening.
Color is a mid-copper colored body with a decent head. Retention and lace are better than expected.
Nose has some mild, acidic fruit. Acidity of the nose grows with warmth. Tastes offer a little less acidity than the nose would imply, but with accumulation that changes. There’s some fruity must from the blackcurrants, and some drying tannin too. Finishes smoother, and more fruity than I was expecting. Oak is drying over time but paradoxically more fruit too.
Mid-level acidity and aggression, and fruit is also moderate. Highly drinkable.
