2021. Drink by 09 AUG 26.
I’ve always been almost 100% indifferent to every Bourbon County variant since the beginning. Having said that, if I see a bottle that I haven’t tried, AND its a reasonable (often meaning markdown) price, then I’ll give it a whirl. This was ‘discounted’ to $14.99.
Pour is as expected with a jet black body and a forced head, meaning that it has a lovely mocha depth but only results after I give it a ridiculously aggressive pour. It also fades badly and leaves no lace. No surprises here, I’m not concerned with anything that I see here.
Nose offers a ton of sweet, alcohol solvent. Not much else. Vicous body (as expected). Cola? Maybe, maybe not, but obviously amazingly sweet either way. Sugary alcohol is there, but it’s actually decent ly smooth as long as you can put up with the sweetness. A touch of molasses, but mostly a brown sugar element. Vanilla? Coriander? Err … light alcohol burn in the finish, but it is quite smooth.
I mean there just about nothing here other than the brown sugar sweetness and a little light alcohol burn. Quite ordinary. Maybe, just maybe, some vanilla in the far back end after the beer has warmed quite a lot.
Glad I bought it and drank it at this price, as I’ll try almost anything once, Outside of that, there’s little or nothing to report here. Not surprised, but also pretty underwhelmed. However, that was what I was expecting. Mostly.
