Small mocha colored head that fades to a ring.

Jet black body, modest head. Light mocha ring that persists. Alcohol is there but is pretty smooth.

Nose appropriately a sweet, boozy vanilla. Tastes are smooth, not harsh at all. Very mellow and quite sweet. Lightly coating mouthfeel which is inevitable, not not remotely cloying. Nicely put together.

Seldom I want or crave such a beer, but this hits a certain spot. Better than I was anticipating TBH. Light chocolate is there but all alcohol soaked. It’s not that subtle, but at the same time it’s not overpowering. Eases in nicely.

Alcohol burns a touch as it accumulates, and finishes a bit drier than one might expect but all well within parameters. Dark cocoa Chocolate bitterness lingers a bit. Some burn. Vanilla not pronounced in the tastes as it is on the nose. Ends with more warmth and perhaps a touch of oxidation /carbonation in the far back which takes away a little for me in the end.

Not quite sure what I was expecting but this hit the spot nicely. Not a beer I would often consider.
