2023 Vintage, 1 pint, 1 fl.oz.
A very weird color with is a sort of pink gold, light rose body with a fizzy head that dissipates quickly. Thin rim of lace around the edge of the surface of the beer. Almost no lace, almost no retention.
There are some funky notes on the nose without it being very strong. Quite thin and light acidity on the initial tastes. The beer is relatively dry with some white wine notes, but it seriously lacks much presence. This was the overall memory this beer, a bit thin. The Brett seems to cut across the palate as bitterness, especially in there back end, and there’s a little coinage metal in there too. Some floral notes, and a light hibiscus or rose note permeates too. I dunno, this doesn’t do much for me at all. Waypost makes some really good beer, this isn’t their best by some distance.
It doesn’t drink near the 6% and feels quite watery. Body is very light, mouthfeel poor.
I have vast experience with Saisons, blended beer, low(er) ABV beer so I know what to not expect, but even in that context this really doesn’t deliver much.
Much like the 2022, pretty average for a beer that should be more exciting and much better.
