1 pint bottle directly from the Brewery last month. 2022 Vintage.
Orange golden pour. Almost a pinkish hue at the edges. Head is average, drops off quickly and little lace.
Nose has plenty of farmyard horse manure, not funk as such, but some oak barrel notes. Quite dry with the barrel-aged part of the blend definitely coming through most strongly. The younger beer doesn’t bring a lot in terms of life, and the beer takes on plenty of apple, and other cider-like notes. Carbnation is low, but the beer is smooth in the mouth.
Dry is what I take away the most. Finish is short, but for me the Brett is quite reserved. It’s unmistakably Coupage, and stylistically correct, but in the end I found it not especially inspiring. Not bad, but I expected a little more from such a ‘special’ beer.
