I am reliably informed that this is the re-branded Wittekerke.

Pour is a slightly clouded, lemon body with excellent head. Retention is above average if not spectacular; much the same can be said of the lace.

Sweet and bready on the nose as one would expect.

Clean and simple with a light citrus edge that delivers a tiny bit of acidity in the back end. It’s very smooth in terms of the mouthfeel and finish. Aftertaste leaves some bitterness that is at first citrus peel and then goes a little more pithy.

Some Wits offer a big profile of coriander, spice ad orange peel but this isn’t one of them. If anything there is more of a bitter based edge than anything else. In that regard this is a touch bland in the context of some in the style. but at the same time that doesn’t make the beer bland per se. I’d even go as far as to say that the beer is better than the sum of its parts.

Warm weather and context makes this a fine beer for some occasions, but it’s not an especially memorable one.
