23rd Anniversary from Avery, and a beer that I think I should enjoy, although the label talks about Brabant that was a beast of a beer. I hope this is a little less sour, and more funky.

A little gun smoke on opening.

Sour, vinegary notes on the nose immediately have me worried. I don’t want a SOUR, I want a Farmhouse/Saison.

YIKES. Fizzy head appears quickly and becomes absolutely nothing within a minute. Beer resembles cold tea in terms of a complete lack of carbonation and dark black/brown body.

Initial tastes are NOT as sour as the vinegar nose suggested, but still too sour for a ‘farmhouse’. I need more funk – much more.

Quite fruity, with a little dry tannin, the beer is interesting I suppose, but it all smacks of a dry, woody, barrel like beer that has sourness added where funk should have been.

Don’t like it much at all.
