750 mL bottle from Tavour.
The pour on this beer is frankly, weird! A fluffy 1 inch white head sits atop an opaque, bright yellow body. It might be the single beer that most resembles a lemon meringue.
Nose offers a non-descript, generic funk. Initial tastes are tart, no especially so, but it cuts in and out. It finishes mildly tart in the back end. I want to say that the acidity is lemon based, but I’m fearful that I’m being influenced by the appearance.
Pretty smooth, and there’s no stinging after taste of acidity. As with even a beer that doesn’t rely heavily on acid, as the beer is consumed, any level of tartness evens out and seems less harsh. At the end, this feels a touch bland.
For me this falls a little between two stools. It’s not funky enough, and it’s not tart enough to push it into a classic Farmhouse or ‘Sour’ area. It’s ends up doing neither and falls a bit flat.
Looked promising, fell short for me.
