Anno 1050 Märzen
3.98 out of 5.00 | Good

L2528012:19, 16.9 oz bottle. Label suggests this might be contract brewed in Germany unless I am misunderstanding something. Confusingly the label also says, “Oldest Monastery Brewery of the World“.

Mid-golden, yellow body with a white, nicely formed rocky head. Lace is good, retention also above average. Good looking beer with a pretty color – rather unusual.

Nose offers all of the malty bread that you would expect and want with a little spicy hop character.

This is relatively straightforward which in my book is a good thing. Everything stays well with style guidelines with a strong malt base and a back-end and finish that has a little bitter aftertaste with some biscuit malts layered on top.

The beer drinks easily with a standard mouthfeel.

This is authentic and simple, and does what it is supposed to do, so no need for any criticism. If you purchase this and drink it you will have got exactly what you paid for and what you thought you were going to get. Solid.
