5 Golden Rings (2025)
3.53 out of 5.00 | Good

A beer that I know well from its original iteration in 2012.

Golden orange pour with complete clarity. Nose has some significant fusel alcohol.

Fruit is the watchword, but not especially entirely recognizable as being pineapple based. Lots of alcohol soaked soft yellowish/orange ones like peach and mango.

Clean, and the beer doesn’t bring the solvent that the nose alluded to. Finish does bring the alcohol. The pineapple brings a little vinous character or even a liqueur element. It’s a bit weird.

I don’t recall feeling this way before about this beer, but it feels almost non-beer like. In that regard I don’t care for it as much as I did previously. It seems like a fruity, alcohol cocktail more than a beer, and either it (or I) have moved significantly.

I think I’ll be content in remembering it as I once did, rather than how it hits me now. Still hapy to have tried the 2025 version, but doubt I would bother with any future iterations if they came around.
