Very clear, quite highly carbonated, golden body with a lot of clarity. This is very ‘light’ in terms of appearance and color in the glass. Very modest, bubbly head with less than average retention, but some really decent sticky lace – almost DIPA like in that department.

Some nice green, metallic hop character in the nose. This manifests itself in the taste a lot more than it did in the nose. Some significant bitterness hits quite hard, and it is dry and citrusy in its application on the palate. Finish is short, but also bitter sweet in the manner it hits the tongue. A light, lingering bitterness. Some orange peel and pith in the mix as well. In fact, becasue of the color, there is a bit of a psychological swing toward orange which may 9or may not) be completely imaginary.

Interestingly this seems like it has the characteristics of an American IPA (the aggressive hop profile and sticky head and lace), but in a more drinkable, gentler, subtle style. Don’t get me wrong, it is quite bitter and assertive, but it seems to drink more easily that many others in the style. A few small, hoppy burps are induced, always a good sign.

Grapefruit builds in time, but never really grates; bitterness stings a little, but never burns; malts and hops compete in places, but never collide.

In a nutshell, nice, clean and simple, and although no a beer or style that I am ever likely to fall in love with, it’s a refreshing, bright and clean version that I enjoyed very much.
