17th Anniversary Götterdämmerung IPA

Oh good, another Stone DIPA. They don’t make many of those!

The usual Stone presentation.

Very pale yellow pour, almost macro lager like in terms of the color. Average white head, some lace but very little retention.

Low level hop aroma in the nose.

There is undoubtably a strong and intense bitterness about this, with even a little aspirin element being present, but to be honest it also has a fence amount of bright, sweetish fruit about it. Interesting combo. 102 IBU’s? Whatever, we’re close to the ceiling for palate appreciating bitterness here, so that’s largely meaningless.

The combination of pilsner malts and German, noble hops certainly gather to give a fairly bright experience. Considering ABV and style, this is not a heavy beer at all.

Alcohol is certainly present, but the beer drinks quite lightly considering the 9.5%. The viscosity is noticeably low fora beer of this ABV and this style.

Aftertaste leaves a little coinage and a touch more onion.
